Questions to consider when writing a book report
▪ *Do the actions in the book take place in a chronological order or not?
▪ *How are you as a reader affected by the way the book is written? Is it easy to
follow the thoughts of the author/narrator?
▪ *Who tells the story? Is it obvious who the narrator is? How is the story told
▪ "I", "you" or "he/she"?
▪ * Describe the main characters.
▪ *In what way are the characters described?
▪ Do you know what they look like or do you only know how they feel?
▪ *Is the setting important to the events taking place in the book?
▪ *How is the environment described?

▪ Do not rewrite the original piece.
▪ Keep your summary short.
▪ Use your own wording.
▪ Refer to the central and main ideas of the original piece.
▪ Read with who, what, when, where, why, and how questions in mind.
▪ Do not put in your opinion of the issue or topic discussed in the original piece.
